Children’s Courses (Full Academic Year)
Beginners: Mondays, 4:00 – 5:30pm
Students will learn to understand and pronounce basic words and phrases from everyday life through play, audiovisual material (smart cards, posters, audio material), lecture notes, and both indoor and outdoor activities (sketches, storytelling). The lessons will include storytelling from Greek mythology, history, and tradition combined with play (such as puzzle books).
Intermediate: Tuesdays, 4:00 – 5:30pm
Students’ language skills will be reviewed and their vocabulary as well as their oral and written expression will be practiced through play, audiovisual material (smart cards, posters, audio material), lecture notes, and both indoor and outdoor activities (sketches, storytelling). Gradually, they will improve their level both in speaking and in writing by analyzing thematic units from everyday life. The lesson will also include storytelling from Greek mythology, history and geography, and tradition, with students participating in various activities.
Conversational Greek: Wednesdays, 4:00 – 5:30pm
The lessons will be conducted with the exclusive purpose of practicing oral expression and comprehension through lecture notes, indoor and outdoor activities, smart cards, audiovisual material, and posters, as well as through language dialogues between students, analyzing a topic from everyday life with the students themselves as the main characters. Topics from Greek mythology, history, geography, and tradition will be gradually analyzed, focusing on practicing oral expression.
Adult Course (Fall Semester)
Greek Language Immersion: Thursdays, 6:30 – 8:00pm
The course is a comprehensive fusion of modern Greek language, grammar, vocabulary and the situational, real-world conversations that arise from daily interactions. Will cover various topics ranging from culture, travel, essential transactions, geography, directionality, and more. The student will achieve the following through lecture notes, posters, smart cards, exercises in active listening, and audiovisual material tailored to the selected interdisciplinary modules of the courses:
- Understand basic words, concepts and phrases
- Practice vocabulary and spoken expression
- Enhance writing skills at various levels
- Gradually develop written expression with text creation
